AFTER a week of shoveling and salting, skidding and sliding, the
last thing you want to see is anything related to winter. At this
point, you probably don't even want to get ice for your drink.
But "Smuckers Stars on Ice" at the First Union Center tonight
promises to take your mind off digging out, as some of the world's
best skaters gather to delight ice skating fans.
Tonight's show explores athletic power, star power and dream power,
organizers say, and offers solo and paired performances by Katarina
Witt, Tara Lipinski, Todd Eldredge, and Kurt Browning. Olympic Pair
champs Jamie Sale and David Pelletier of Canada, and Elena Berezhnaya
and Anton Sikharulidze of Russia make their "Smuckers Stars on Ice"
debut, as do Jenni Meno, Todd Sand, Kyoko Ina and John
Zimmerman. Two-time dance champions Renee Roca and Gorsha Sur will
return to the tour.
This year, the tour boasts the production and choreography talents
of Sandra Bezic and her team, who have set this spectacular to musical
selections ranging from Elvis to Leonard Cohen to Will Smith.
A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs
of America.
