PORTLAND Many of the world's finest ice skaters will rock n' roll to the music of The Rolling Stones when the cast of Discover Card Stars on Ice performs at Memorial Coliseum next week.

The star-studded lineup of skating greats will cap their 7:30 p.m. Tuesday show with "It's a Guy Girl Thing," a high-energy production number featuring the entire cast performing to music by the British rockers.

Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton, Katarina Witt, Kurt Browning and other Olympic participants are expected to put on a dazzling display as they skate to The Rolling Stones medley of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Dance Little Sister," "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Can't Always Get What You Want."

The Stars on Ice lineup features five winners of Olympic gold, four of Olympic silver, a four-time world champion and several other Olympic participants.

The showcase of award winners includes Olympic champions Yamaguchi, Hamilton, Witt and the Russian pairs team of Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov.

Olympic silver medalists are Paul Wylie, Everett's Rosalynn Sumners and the pairs team of Elena Bechke and Denis Petrov, while Canadian Browning is the four-time world champion.

The lineup also includes the pairs teams of Christine Hough and Doug Ladret and Natalia Annenko and Genrich Sretenski.

For the first time in the show's nine-year history, a pair of two-time Olympic champions are members of the tour. Witt and Gordeeva-Grinkov bring four gold medals to the show.

Gordeeva and Grinkov, winners of Olympic gold in 1988 and 1994, were grace on skates as they performed a breathtaking routine of Debussy's "Reverie" when Stars on Ice visited Portland in 1993.

The pair is noted for its artistic and athletic routines that include powerful lifts and spectacular throws. Their signature move is a quadruple twist where Grinkov tosses the 90-pound Gordeeva through the air.

During the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Witt became the first woman in more than 50 years to win back-to-back gold medals in figure skating. In addition to her Olympic golds, Witt is a four-time world champion.

Yamaguchi won her gold medal at the 1992 Olympics, while Hamilton won his gold in 1984. Yamaguchi is a two-time world champion and Hamilton has won four world titles.

Wylie won his silver medal at the 1992 Olympics, the same year Russians Bechke and Petrov won the silver in pairs. Sumners won her silver in 1984.

Canadians Hough and Ladret skated in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics and Russians Annenko and Sretenski represented Russia in the 1988 Olympics.

In addition to solo numbers by each individual act, the show includes several production numbers. In addition to "It's a Guy Girl Thing," highlights include the full cast in "Rhapsody in Ice" to open the show; "Wildflower," featuring Witt and Yamaguchi on the ice together, but skating separately to display their different strength and styles; and "Five Minutes for Icing," a cast dance number that concludes with a jazzy sequence by Hamilton, Browning and Wylie.

Portland is the fourth stop on a 48-city United States tour that continues through April 1. Stars on Ice will skate at the Tacoma Dome at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
