The Good:
Now we know why ABC made a beeline for Kurt Browning when it
wanted a new figure skating analyst this season. The four-time world
champion's in-studio analysis for CBC has been fascinating,
revealing and, most of of all, just a really fun listen. Then again,
this a guy who seemed a natural for TV, whenever he decided to take
the plunge.
Faced with a heavy day of potential medallists and a
Canada-Germany hockey game in between, CBC did a fine job making sure
viewers saw it all, including the high drama surrounding Jeff
Buttle's eventual bronze in men's figure skating.
The Bad:
We know CBC's Don Cherry loves to talk about the Leafs. But do we
really need to hear about them yet again during the Olympics?
Twenty-six Saturdays of it during the NHL season is plenty, even if he
was just using them to make a point about Mats Sundin's play with
Sweden's Olympic team.
Snowboardcross is a wild, crazy addition to the Olympic
program. And, apparently, a little too fast for the cameras. Viewers
lost track of some of the carnage behind the leaders yesterday,
including a spill involving Canada's Jasey-Jay Anderson.
