CBC TV to Air 'Alberta Bound -- A Centennial Celebration'.

The wide-open spaces of Alberta have produced some of the finest
and best-known music and performing artists this country has to
offer. The stages they perform on, and the large supportive audiences
that come to see them, speak volumes about the province. Explore the
culture and meet the people who have left an indelible mark and shaped
the province in ALBERTA BOUND: A Centennial Celebration, airing on CBC
Television, Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8 to 10 p.m.
Four-time World and Canadian Champion skater Kurt Browning comes
home for Alberta's centennial and enjoys a musical and cultural tour
of his home province. He travels the highways and the byways,
exploring the rich harvest and diverse talent that has been inspired
by the big sky and the magnificent mountain ranges. Along the way, he
meets many of the province's great musicians who have taken their
talents to the world stage.
From Ian Tyson, in the foothills of the Rockies, to Nickelback in
Hanna, to kd lang of Consort, and Terri Clark in Medicine Hat,
Browning encourages the performers to share their experiences and
special relationship with the province.
Also included in the centennial special are Albertans: country
artist Paul Brandt; nouveau flamenco guitarist Oscar Lopez; Cajun
singer Crystal Plamondon, world renowned jazz great PJ Perry; East
Indian hip hop star Raghav Mathur; traditional cowboy musician Corb
Lund; hoop dance champion Alex Wells, talented songwriter and
up-and-coming singer Karla Anderson; mountain man and conservationist
Sid Marty, who also happens to be a songwriter; and one of Alberta's
favourites, Jann Arden.
ALBERTA BOUND: A Centennial Celebration is written and directed by
Tom Radford and produced by Jack Stuart. Executive producers for White
